This driver implements the camera driver interface introduced in Windows Mobile 5.0, and now available in CE 6.0. In other words, the driver is meant to be used as the source filter in a DirectShow capture graph, rather than as a stand-alone stream-based driver.
The driver is distributed as source code, and must be compiled for your target platform. The driver has only been tested on x86-based platforms and with a limited number of cameras. Further testing and modification may be needed to use this driver in a production system.
The driver supports both USB 1.x and 2.0 (high-speed) cameras. The driver will expose both uncompressed and MJPEG modes, if supported by the camera. MJPEG mode generally requires pairing the driver with a DirectShow transform filter (jpeg2rgb.dll) which is also included in this download. For more information see the included release notes.
In the future, additional information and sample code may be posted to the Windows CE Base Team blog.
This kit is a collection of tests and tools that can be used to help verify the stability, reliability, and quality of a platform or device running Windows Embedded CE 6.0. This download is intended to be used on systems where Platform Builder for Windows Embedded CE 6 is not installed; however, it is the same kit as the one included in the Windows Embedded CE 6 product and is used in the same way.
There are also the following diagnostic tools available in the kit:
1. Application Verifier: Memory leak detection tool
2. CPUMon: CPU monitoring tool
3. Stress: Device and OS stressing tool
This driver is built on the USB Video Standard and helps connect Webcams supporting this standard to your Windows CE device (e.g., Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000). With this Shared Source Driver, you can capture still images and video stream over 10 fps in a 320x240 resolution.
What’s new with Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Shared Source
With Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Microsoft takes another leap forward in making source available. The amount of source code available increased from 2.5M lines with CE 5.0 to 3.9M lines with Windows Embedded CE 6.0. This represents a 56% increase. Developers can access even more source code than they did before.
